Coolrec becomes Renewi E-waste: New name, same commitment to high-quality plastic recycling

16 April 2025

Coolrec will from now on operate under the name Renewi E-waste. With this rebranding, Renewi is consolidating its expertise in plastic recycling under one strong brand, allowing it to serve its customers even better. At the same time, it highlights Coolrec’s 30-year evolution: from a pioneer in the processing of refrigerators and freezers to a specialist in the recycling of a wide range of e-waste.

Coolrec has long been a key player in plastic recycling in Europe. The company stands out due to its unique expertise and high quality standards, strong traceability of materials, and a partnership-oriented approach with its customers. Thanks to targeted investments in R&D, Renewi E-waste meets the increasingly stringent demands of industrial customers, resulting in high-quality and sustainable recycled plastics.

Coolrec has benefited from valuable support from Renewi for many years, and this collaboration will now be further strengthened. This rebranding will make things easier for customers: from now on, they can go to a single point of contact for various recycled plastics. Bas Van Ginkel, Managing Director of Renewi E-waste, explains: “Coolrec supplies specialist recycled plastics like PS and ABS. Renewi supplies r-PP and r-PE. For customers interested in all of these products, the previous situation was somewhat inconvenient. They now benefit from a single point of contact and one contract.”

With Renewi E-waste, the company is choosing an integrated vision for plastic recycling and a stronger market position. At the same time, the sector still faces challenges. Bas Van Ginkel is clear about this: “It’s obvious that European legislation is needed to promote harmonisation and incentive measures. But industrial players and manufacturers shouldn't wait around. Companies that invest now in innovation and the use of recycled materials are ahead of the game and ready for tomorrow’s regulations.”
